Who we are
Bisham Squash Club is a community squash club run by volunteers at Bisham Abbey National Sports Centre in Marlow. For the purposes of UK data protection law, the club is the data controller for anything you give us through this website. Questions and requests go to bishamabbeysquash@gmail.com.
What we collect, and why
This website collects personal information in exactly two places, and both are forms you choose to fill in.
- The join form on the Join us page: your first name, last name, email address, and whatever you tell us about where you are with squash. We use it to reply to you and to get you on court.
- The events booking form: your first name, last name, email address, phone number, and the sessions you pick. We use it to confirm your place and to get in touch about that event.
That is it. We do not ask for anything we would not need in order to reply, and we never sell your details or pass them to anyone for marketing. Our legal basis for using them is simple: you asked us to get in touch, and replying is in both our interests.
Where it goes and how long we keep it
Form submissions are handled by Netlify, the company that hosts this website. Netlify stores them and shows them to the club members who look after the site and new players. Netlify is based in the United States and processes data under its data processing terms, which include the safeguards UK law requires for data leaving the UK.
We keep submissions while we deal with your enquiry or event, and delete them once they are no longer needed. If you go on to play with us, the club will keep your contact details for running the leagues and keeping in touch, and you can ask us to stop at any time.
Cookies and analytics
This site uses Google Analytics, loaded through Google Tag Manager, to see which pages get used and how people find us. Analytics sets cookies whose names begin with _ga. They tell Google that the same browser has come back, so that ten visits from you count as one person rather than ten. Google processes this on our behalf, and nothing in it identifies you to us personally.
None of that happens until you press Accept on the cookie notice. If you press No thanks, or simply ignore it, no analytics cookies are set and nothing about your visit is sent to Google Analytics. The tag manager itself loads from Google on every page, which like any web request tells Google your IP address, but it sets no cookies and sends nothing about you until you accept.
We remember your choice for a year in your browser's local storage, under the name bsc-consent. That is the one piece of storage this site uses without asking, because it is what stops us asking you again.
To change your mind, click Cookie choices at the bottom of any page. Choosing No thanks after you had accepted also deletes the analytics cookies.
Other than that, this site sets no cookies of its own. It has no accounts, no logins and no adverts.
Other services this site loads
Loading any web page sends your IP address to whoever serves its parts. On this site that means:
- Netlify, which serves the pages and keeps ordinary server logs.
- Sanity, whose content delivery network serves the photographs.
- Google Fonts, which serves the two typefaces.
- YouTube and Vimeo, but only if you press play on a video. Until then nothing is loaded from them. YouTube videos use its privacy-enhanced mode, which sets no cookies until you play; Vimeo may set its own once you do.
Links to other websites, such as SquashLevels for the box leagues or Bisham Abbey for membership, take you to sites with their own privacy policies.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you can ask us what we hold about you, ask us to correct or delete it, and object to us using it. Email bishamabbeysquash@gmail.com and we will sort it out. There is no form and no fee. If you are not happy with how we have handled something, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
Changes
If we change how this site handles your information, we will update this page and the date at the top.
